Beckstead Falls Short of Final Table

This is the first time the WPT Deepstacks has held a tournament here in Los Angeles, but you would probably get away with calling Thomas Beckstead the "defending champion" of this event. Last year, Beckstead bested a field of 357 players to win first place in the Cardplayer Poker Tour Main Event here at The Bicycle Casino. Just like this tournament, it was an $1,100 buy-in, and the tournament took place just before the WSOP.

Thomas Beckstead- 16th Place

Well Beckstead was hoping for another major final table here at The Bike, but he ultimately fell short of that goal when his Ace-Queen fell to the pocket 10's of his opponent Kane Kalas. It was a great run for Beckstead, who will have to settle for a payday just over $4,000.

Next Table of Bustouts From 19th-27th

And lastly, this group of players each took home $2,890.

A Few Big Stacks With 30 Players Left

We are almost down to the final three tables, and a few players have risen above the rest to the enviable spot of "big stack bully." The chip leader at the moment is Gerald Hunyh, who has amassed a huge stack of over 1.5 million. The secret? Well, according to him, "people have been giving me their chips all day." Easy enough right? Here are the other players who are within shouting distance of Hunyh.

Gerald Hunyh- 1.55 million
Warren Woodall- 1.1 million

Sami Dighlawi- 950,000
Brett Murray- 720,000

Jared Einsohn Bursts The Bubble

We heard an audible groan of "noooo", and went over to see young part-time pro Jared Einsohn on the wrong end of the bubble bursting. Einsohn was all in on a completed board of [As][9s][7c][4d][Qc], and Michael Maarup called him down.

Einsohn showed [Ah][8h] for top pair, but it was no good, as Maarup showed [Qd][4s] for running two pair. With that, the remaining 45 players are all in the money!

Next Group of Players Pics From Day 2

As we promised before, we have another round of notable names who moved on to Day 2 today. This list includes Huy Quach, who won a ring event here at The Bicycle Casino in March, as well as former WPT player of the year Matt Salsberg, who unfortunately has been eliminated before the money.

Amongst the notables who have fallen short of the money are Matt Salsberg, Phong "Turbo" Nguyen, Cody Shedd, Eric Ramsey, and Peter Hengsakul.
