Jeff Alder Bags Big Lead in Opening Flight

The first flight of Mega Millions XVII is in the books, and the player in the pole position by quite a large margin is Jeff Alder, who bagged up 606,000. Only one other player in the final eight from this flight has over 300,000, so Alder is off to a great start.

Remember that the action is just starting in this massive event. We have three starting flights tomorrow and Sunday, so be sure to come on out this weekend and try to one up Alder!

What's on Tap: Saturday, August 12th

The Mega Millions rolls on tomorrow with three more starting flights. The schedule tomorrow will be just like the schedule today, with $160 flights starting up at 11:30 AM and 4 PM. The $550 session, where the top 10% will be moving on to the Day 2 finals, will be starting up at 2 PM.

Registration for each flight will be open for three hours, and re-entry will also be allowed in each flight in that time frame as well.

The First Flight is in the Money

Hand for hand play in the opening flight of the day lasted just a couple of hands, as two players were eliminated on separate tables at the same time. Those players will be splitting the min cash of $300, while the remaining 15 players are all in the money. Once we are down to the final eight players, play will stop for the evening, and players will collect $1,000 and come back for the finals in two weeks!

Now for Some 4 PM Session Photos

Below you will see our last round of player photos for today, and it's from the 4 PM starting session. Boris Goldstein is here hoping that he will become the first player to win two Mega Millions titles. He won the 13th installment of this series, taking home over $260,000. We also spotted Safiya Umerova, who won a WSOP bracelet in a Shootout Event in 2016.
