By the Numbers: Opening $200,000 Guaranteed Flight

We got off to a great start in the $200,000 Guaranteed Event, as exactly 200 players came out. That means that the top 20 will all be taking home $400, and will move on to the finals on Wednesday. Remember that the second flight of the day is in full swing now with registration still open until 7 PM.

1-20 Advance to Day 2 + $400

The Final Three Chop, Behzad Teranie is the Champion!

The final three players asked to see the numbers, but after counting out the chips, they agreed to a deal on their own. Seon Kim and Jason Warner, who were separated by just two big blinds, agreed to each take home $19,000 even, leaving the rest of the cash, $21,874, to Behzad Teranie. He will take home the trophy as well for this event, getting off to a hot start in this massive series.

Congratulations to all three players on their big scores, and thanks for playing the opening event of the 2018 Legends of Poker!

James Villejo Eliminated in 4th Place ($7,935)

Jason Warner limped in, and James Villejo moved all in from the small blind. Behzad Teranie called in the big blind, and Warner also called. The two would check down the board of [Kc][10s][7h][Kd][Jh], and Villejo showed [9d][9s]. It was no good though, as Teranie tabled [Ah][10d] for a better pair.

The final three are looking at number for a chop now. Here are their exact counts right now.

Behzad Teranie - 3,160,000
Jason Warner - 2,490,000
Seon Kim - 2,330,000

Kim Doubles Through Teranie

Seon Kim and Behzad Teranie were heads up on a flop of [9h][4d][4h], and the two players got all the money in, with Kim in great shape holding [Jh][Jc] to the [Qd][9c] of Teranie. The board finished out [Ac] and [Kd], giving Kim the win and huge double up to over 2.3 million.

Frank Lin Eliminated in 5th Place ($6,065)

The final five players took a look at the numbers, but a deal couldn't be reached. On one of the first hands after that happened, Frank Lin shove all in on the button, and in the big blind, James Villejo woke up with [Ah][Ac]. He was well ahead of the [Kd][9s] of Lin, and despite flopping some outs on the [Qd][Jh][7s] flop, the turn and river provided no further help.

The chips were counted down, and the two had identical stacks of 635,000 each, giving Villejo the full double up, and sending Lin to the rail in fifth.

Cards in the Air: Second $200,000 Guaranteed Flight

Over on the other side of the tournament ballroom, the second flight of the opening day of our $200,000 Guaranteed Event has just kicked off! Registration will be open until 7 PM tonight, and remember that the top 10% will be bagging up and coming back on Wednesday to fight it out for a first place prize of around $50,000!

Kevin McCormack Eliminated in 6th Place ($4,655)

Kevin McCormack got his short stack in preflop holding [As][10s], and he was in rough shape against the [Kh][Kc] of James Vallejo. The flop was a great one for McCormack, coming down [8s][6s][4h]. This gave McCormack a flush draw to go with his ace, but the turn was the [2d], and the river the [7h].

This gets us down to the final five players, with Jason Warner and Behzad Teranie still leading the way.

Jeff Stein Eliminated in 7th Place ($3,715)

Jeff Stein is the latest player to bust out at this final table. Leading the way right now is Jason Warner with 2.4 million. The final six have briefly talked about looking at the numbers, but they haven't all agreed to look just yet. Here is how they currently stack up.

Blinds: 25,000-50,000

Jason Warner - 2,400,000
Behzad Teranie - 1,600,000
Seon Kim - 1,300,000
Frank Lin - 650,000
James Vallejo - 640,000
Kevin McCormack - 520,000

Yasmine Hanane Eliminated in 8th Place ($2,905)

Yasmine Hanane shoved her short stack from the button with [As][3s], but unfortunately for her, James Vallejo woke up with [Ac][Qd] in the big blind. The board wouldn't bring any help for Hanane, who is knocked out from this final table in 8th place.

Max Azira Eliminated in 9th Place ($2,175)

Max Azira was able to catch one double up when he won a flip versus James Vallejo, but he wasn't able to get another double after that. Azira got his final chips in preflop holding [7c][7s], but he was dominated by the [8s][8h] of Seon Kim.

The board ran down [Jh][3h][2c][9c][As], and the eights held for Kim, who gets us down the final eight.

David Calabro Eliminated in 10th Place ($1,530)

Action started with Jason Warner raising to 140,000. Next to act, Jeff Stein moved all in fro 370,000. Two seats over, short stack David Calabro also moved all in. It folded back around to Warner, who tanked for a couple of minutes before calling to put both players at risk.

Warner: [Ks][Qc]
Stein: [As][10s]
Calabro: [Ac][Qh]

Calabro had the best hand of the three, but that didn't last long, as the flop came down [10h][4c][3h]. That gave Stein the lead, and he held that through the [7s] turn and [9d] river.

With that, we are down to the official final table of nine.
